Colorado Trail FKT / Speed Record -
Colorado Trail Speed Record / FKT
Eric Grossman went out to Colorado three weeks prior to the CT Speed Record attempt to acclimate. He linked up with Mike Ambrose in Leadville to show him the ropes around the old mining towns of Leadville and Frisco. Apparently Eric had quite the experience out there, because we haven't began our first steps for the record and Eric put in an offer on a house! I'm hoping this epic adventure has an equally profound or inspiring moment for all involved! Wow...
So I'm heading out tonight. We start this mission on Thursday morning. We are supposed to espouse a team atmosphere and environment per the event description I had posted when inviting others to run this record. Eric and I have shared several similar adventures in the past and I am pretty sure we both know what to expect out of the other. It is not a race against one another. We are ultimately racing the clock and the record, most intimately, we are racing ourselves, digging deep and trudging on long past our inevitable breaking points. The current record has stood since 2008 and has been called "one of the greatest feats in running to date".
Updates can be found on my facebook and twitter feeds.
Many thanks to those who have made this attempt possible:
Stephanie Wissing- the always supportive crew member extraordinaire. I couldn't do it without you!
Robin Grossman- Eric's wife, crewing us, Keeping all the details straight!
Guy Love- We are really going to need Guy! He's pacing us out in the AM and bringing us in SAFELY at night.
Mike Ambrose- Starting the run with us, providing his quarters to us dirty runners once close to clean up!
Jamie Solberg- One of the biggest logistical hurdles for me was tracking down a 4x4 to come get us on days without road crossings. Mike recruited Jamie to help out so many thanks to you both!
Kara Shellhamer and Denali- thanks for letting me ditch "the 'ville" for a bit to go chase my dreams...
